Ki Yun Nam is a partner patent attorney at Lee & Ko IP in charge of patent prosecution in the field of chemistry. He has accumulated expertise in various areas of technology such as chemistry, electronic materials, semiconductor manufacturing process, food, biotechnology, and pharmaceuticals, representing leading multinational companies from the United States, Europe, and Japan in patent prosecution, patent invalidity and infringement analysis, trade secret infringement litigation, IP strategy consulting, M&A IP due diligence, IP valuation, and a wide range of other IP-related matters.

Additionally, he has dealt with patent disputes in the chemical field, such as automotive films, battery electrolytes, wafer polishing agents, materials for display, foaming agents, photoresist compositions, non-digestive polymers, and filler products, as well as trade secret infringement cases related to aromatic polyamide high-strength fibers and organic compound manufacturing processes. Furthermore, he has conducted prior art searches and patent invalidity and infringement analyses in various technology fields such as battery cathode materials, abrasives, CCUS, and bioplastics, while also providing IP strategy consulting for developing new business in the field of advanced battery, steel, and food industries. In addition he has accumulated practical experience in M&A IP due diligence, IP taxation, technology transactions and patent licensing, fair trade practices, and a wide range of IP-related business areas.

Mr. Nam received his bachelor's degree in Chemical and Biological Engineering from Seoul National University in 2007. Since 2008, he has possessed extensive technical and legal expertise through a long-term practical experience in IP area, and in 2015, he gained practical experience in international IP rights while working at the US headquarters of 3M Innovative Properties, Ltd., one of the leading multinational companies. Furthermore, by conducting various IP strategy consulting projects with various domestic companies aiming to enter new businesses, he has secured expertise in patent acquisition and utilization strategies. He also worked at Kim & Chang from 2008 to 2023 as a senior patent attorney, where he handled a variety of IP matters ranging from litigation, prosecution, IP transactions and portfolio management.
