As a partner in the Corporate Practice Group, Byung Hwa Lee's primary practice areas include antitrust & competition, mergers & acquisitions, product liability & consumer claims, environmental law compliance, health & safety, anti-corruption and general regulatory compliance matters.
Prior to joining Lee & Ko, Mr. Lee worked as general counsel for 3M Korea for 10 years, managing all legal concerns and compliance matters for the multinational company's Korean subsidiary. Previously, he was a partner at Kim, Chang & Lee, where he advised numerous local and foreign companies on antitrust, labor & employment, M&A, and general corporate matters. With over 20 years of extensive in-house and law firm experience, Mr. Lee is highly qualified to provide practical and effective legal advice tailored to meet the specific needs of each corporate client.
Mr. Lee is also very active in various professional associations and organizations devoted to promoting excellence in the legal profession. He is currently the chairman of the Korean Bar Association's Special Committee for In-House Counsels. He also formerly served as the president (2016-2018) of the Korea In-House Counsel Association, an organization of over 1900 Korean in-house lawyers, and has had a wide range of interactions with in-house counsels in various industries. In recognition of his accomplishments and service to the legal profession, Mr. Lee was awarded a Lifetime Achievement Award by the Seoul Bar Association in 2017.
