Eunkyoung Lyu is a partner at Lee & Ko. Prior to joining Lee & Ko in 2013, she served as a Patent Examiner at Korean Intellectual Property Office (KIPO) for six years from 2005 and as a Deputy Director at Ministry of Environment as well as Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Energy after passing the National Higher Civil Service Examination in 1999.

Having examined and reviewed a broad range of patent applications regarding fine chemicals, electronic materials, biocide, biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, etc. at KIPO, she is well-equipped with vast knowledge on the Intellectual Property Rights, especially chemical sectors. Based on the extensive experience as a patent examiner, now she works primarily on the enforcement of IP rights covering patents, trademark, copyright, design, trade secret, unfair competition and work-made-for-hire inventions.

Earlier, she worked as a deputy director at Energy technology division and Petroleum Industry Division of Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Energy as well as at Chemical Substance Management Division of Ministry of Environment. During that time, she made several provisions, acts and regulations about technology development for renewable energy, supply and demand management of petroleum energy and environment issues such as Toxic Chemical Substance Control, Environmental Hormone Control, Evaluation of Chemical Substances, giving her considerable insight on Energy and Chemicals.
