Jin-uk (Joseph) Kim is a partner at both Lee & Ko’s International Litigation Group and Compliance Practice Group. He has extensive experience in representing and advising prominent clients in a variety of cross-border disputes and compliance related matters.
In regard to in-bound international cases heard by Korean courts, Mr. Kim has acted as counsel representing foreign clients from around the world – including clients from the U.S., U.K., Germany, France, Italy, Russia, Singapore, Hong Kong and Saudi Arabia. In regard to out-bound international cases heard by courts from different jurisdictions - such as the U.S., France, Italy, New Zealand and Israel, Mr. Kim has comprehensive experience in successfully advising clients through seamless cooperation with local counsel. Mr. Kim also has ample experience representing clients in cases involving the recognition and enforcement (annulment) of foreign court judgments and foreign arbitral awards. He has acted as counsel for foreign clients in cases relating to the application of interim measures heard by Korean courts as well.
Mr. Kim also has experience in advising major corporations on compliance-related matters. By proactively approaching the risks and opportunities the clients are facing, Mr. Kim endeavors to provide the most tailored-fit compliance advice for clients.
In addition, Mr. Kim has experience representing clients brought under major arbitration institutions, such as the ICC, SIAC, HKIAC, AAA and KCAB.

- [Cross-border Litigations - Inbound]
- Represented and provided legal assistance to one of the largest conglomerates in Korea against several U.S. companies and a Singapore company in a case concerning a joint venture dispute brought in front of both a Korean court and a U.S. court
- Represented a German company operating ambulance aircrafts against a Korean maintenance company in relation to a maintenance-related accident which occurred at Gimpo Airport (Korea)
- Represented a U.S. company operating an aircraft against its Korean guarantors with regard to an aircraft lease agreement and guarantee agreement
- Represented a U.S. based automotive parts manufacturer in the Korean courts against a claim raised by its Korean counterpart arising from a supply agreement and related AAA arbitral award
- Represented a global resort company in the Korean courts against a claim raised by a resort guest arising from an accident that occurred while staying at the resort
- Represented an Italian fabrics manufacturing company against a Korean entity with regard to a sale and purchase agreement dispute heard by a Korean court (applicable governing law: CISG and Italian law)
- Successfully defended and provided legal advice to Korea’s top airliner in numerous international carriage cases heard by Korean courts where the application of the Montreal Convention of 1999 was an issue
- Represented a Korean affiliate of a U.S. company providing financial lease services to companies in Korea against a Korean company with regard to a financial lease agreement dispute heard by a Korean court
- Represented six Italian solar companies against a subsidiary of a financial institution in Korea in relation to a loan agreement dispute heard by a Korean court
- Successfully recognized and enforced a Russian court judgment for the first time in Korea based on reciprocity (mutual recognition) through representing a Russian company against a Korean company
- Represented a U.S. food distribution company in recognition and enforcement procedures in Korea with regard to a U.S. default judgment against a Korean company

- Provided legal advice and assistance to a Korean IT company against a U.S. IT company with regard to an alleged trade secret misappropriation dispute brought in front of a U.S. federal court
